Overview:
The Hostess is responsible for providing a warm and friendly welcome to guests, managing reservations, and ensuring a smooth flow of guests into the dining area. This role plays a key part in creating a positive first impression and setting the tone for guests' dining experience by maintaining an organized and efficient seating process.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Guest Reception:
o Greet guests warmly as they arrive and thank them as they leave.
o Assist guests with seating preferences and accommodate special requests whenever possible.
o Manage the waiting list and notify guests when their table is ready.
- Reservation Management:
o Handle incoming reservation calls, emails, and online bookings.
o Maintain and update the reservation system with accurate guest information and special requests.
o Confirm reservations and follow up with guests regarding changes or cancellations.
- Seating Coordination:
o Coordinate with the service team to ensure timely seating and efficient table turnover.
o Maintain awareness of table availability, server assignments, and dining room layout.
o Communicate effectively with guests and servers to manage expectations and resolve seating issues.
- Customer Service:
o Provide menus and inform guests of daily specials or promotions.
o Answer guest inquiries regarding menu items, restaurant policies, and local attractions.
o Handle guest complaints with professionalism and escalate issues to management as needed.
- Maintaining Front-of-House Appearance:
o Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and inviting for guests.
o Monitor restroom cleanliness and notify appropriate staff for maintenance.
- Team Collaboration:
o Collaborate with other hostesses and restaurant staff to maintain a cohesive and efficient front-of-house operation.
o Assist with other duties as needed, including bussing tables, taking coats, or assisting servers during busy periods.
- Upselling and Promotion:
o Promote special events, promotions, and menu items to guests during their visit.
o Encourage guests to join loyalty programs or subscribe to newsletters for future promotions and updates.
